Teaching & Knowledge Transfer

Once a year, Thomas steps out of the engineering lab and into the classroom, working as a guest lecturer in Electronics. Bringing theory and real-world hardware design experience directly to the next generation of engineers.

He believes that sharing knowledge is not a distraction from doing the work — it sharpens it.


Beyond the Profession: Retro Computing & the Joy of 8-bit

Long before FPGAs and gigabit interfaces, there were 8-bit microprocessors — and Thomas fell in love with them as a child and never quite fell back out.

He remains an active retro computing enthusiast, designing and building original hardware for classic platforms such as the Commodore VIC-20, including cartridge systems with custom programmable logic. This is engineering for the pure love of it: the constraint of working within machines with kilobytes of RAM, a few gates and megahertz of clock speed demands a kind of creative problem-solving that no modern toolchain can replicate. It keeps the mind sharp, the curiosity alive, and the soldering iron warm.


Civic Leadership

Thomas spent 20 years as an elected politician at the municipal level — a commitment that goes well beyond a line on a resume. This experience gave him genuine, practiced knowledge of how political organisations function, how long-horizon projects are governed, how stakeholder landscapes are navigated, and how decisions are made when the stakes are real and the room is full of disagreement.

In an era where engineering increasingly intersects with policy, regulation, and public accountability, this perspective is genuinely rare.

He is also engaged in the board of directors of Företagarna Öresund (The Öresund Business Association), a local networking non-profit for entrepreneurs and business owners.


Personal

Thomas is open-minded, positive, and energized by a fast pace. He is creative by instinct and pragmatic by experience — a combination that tends to produce good outcomes in complex, ambiguous situations.

He has been married for decades and is the father of three.
